In the far jungles of the place called the Dark Continent, Beotharn, many races live and fight for survival. Foremost amongst those that have dealings with the so-called civilized races of the west are the Cebu and their cousins, the Cebius Barbarians. These people are hearty and strong, having no fear of the jungle and its dark horrors, and being more than willing to guide the pale skinned explorers from the west into the interior,... for a price. The region of Cebius encompasses the majority of the western coast of Beotharn, from the coast of the Taipai Sea inland to just past the Cebius mountains. It borders Ophir, Kartush and Nubia to the east, and Narhashi to the south. The great Shipping Guild port city of Taipai and many of the other Guild strongholds sit on its coast, and passages to the ancient Drowlands have been bored through its crust. And though the jungles are not deep, nor are they vast, like the interior, it is the only piece of the Dark Continent most westerners are likely to see.

Understandably, the Cebius are not above putting on a show for the tourists and the get rich quick adventurers. Normally, they will be found in little villages just outside the major cities, guiding hunting expeditions up the many rivers in the region. But some see the false front as an insult to their traditions, railing against their brethren that see as selling out to the white skins from the west. And others try a different tact, adopting the western cultures and ways as it suits them. These few bold adventurers become the stuff of legends, even amongst the Cebu and the Cebius, combining their primitive instinct with eastern martial arts and western steel, auritite, and magic.
