Note: many liberties taken on the science here (such as the proximity of electrons to the nucleus)... In part, this cartoon is in rememberance of a college chemistry professor who brought humor into the class. One day he brought in a tape of something he said he heard while skiing. It was a tape of happy sounding music, and he said it was the sound of happy atoms (he referred to the nobel gasses in the periodic chart as happy because they were stable and would not change the number of electrons easily (or loose the ones they had)). Alas, our poor unstable element here is no happy atom because it so easily looses it's lone electron...
