Description

Ultrafratal 4.03 A while back, Panny Brawley was talking to me about deep zoomed Mandelbrots and how much fun it was searching for these little "mini-brots". I've just gotten most of the kinks wrung out of a new, "speed-demon" pc I've just built and I thought I'd look at how much faster it handles deeply zoomed fractals and go hunting WAY down the points separating the big part and the little part in the center of the Mandelbrot. In a word, "zoom-zoom!" lol. Heat was the biggest problem with this machine. A tip - make sure your heatsinks are good and that it stays nice and cool in the room where your pc lives while fractalling - especially during long renders. If you have the number of threads used by UF set higher to take advantage of all your rig's capability, the CPU temperature will go up quite a bit. Even if you leave it at min=1, max=4. Mine was hitting 61-63 degrees C during a 3 day networked render with min=4 and max=16. (because it's a dual core with hyperthreading, Windows' Task Mgr sees 4 cpu's) Max temp per Intel is only 68.6 so I was a little worried. Got the airflow better in my case and am now running 54-56 degrees during renders so long as the room stays cool. 58 when it's hot in here. NOTHING works your pc harder than computing the formulas in a fractal - even games! Anyhow, here's one of the minibrots I found. Orbit Traps, Smoothed Iterations(Mandelbrot), Triangle Inequality Average and M Harlequin Dist Method in akl-m-mt.ucl are some of the ucl's I've been able to get to work on these. Toby showed a Sine-mod III example recently, too. I think the trick is many times a high number in the Color Density box or setting the shape size small enough and/or the trap density/frequency high enough. Thanks a TON for stopping by and for ALL of the wonderful and much appreciated support y'all have given me on my images posted here. Posting fractals here has been MUCH better for my self-esteem than getting fragged repeatedly by some 11 year-old in an online first-person shooter game! :-) Rick **(Fine art giclee' prints of most of my work are available on archival paper or canvas - e-mail: drahcir3@hotmail.com and get busy filling that empty spot on the wall! :-)

it's a beauty for sure. a VERY attractive piece. I have a Reserator on each of my render machines. Then again, in the summer, the ambient room temp is around 90F, so yeah, it's hot.

So much has been said already, but it really is exquisitely beautiful, and I think the remarkable detail is what brings it all forward.
