Description
ATABI the TAINO word for MOTHER EARTH. The Painting has the 4 Elements. The SUN, the MOON. ANIMALS of the CARRIBEAN and the COQUI= frog. FLOWERS and the SACRED CASSAVA plant. DUJO= Chair of the CHIEF. CEMI= Carved stone of DEITY or CHIEF that guarded them. BOWLS and DRUMS for ceremonies. Each woman has part of a TATTOO that when together it forms the TAINO GLYPH of ATABI. The EARTH is the WOMB. Notice the leaf is crying. The lips have a Glare from the Camera. Sorry about that. Thank You for Viewing

Aguilar, my friend, as always I am speechless. Your interpretations of our heritage as exquisitely beautiful. Not only do they bring nature and love to focus, but they help people to understand that the Puerto Rican Heritage has a rich Taino, African and European origin tied to it. Your work as always moves me. You move me, your wife both move me. You are not just accomplished artists in your own right, but having met with you and having spoken with you both on several occasions has left me realizing that you live your work - the spirituality, the symbolism of it all and especially the love, because you love people. Your wife saw me and embraced me with such a loving embrace. Your team effort reminds me of Frida and Diego, not by the symbolism involved, but by how well you both work together. Thank you for raising awareness of the Puerto Rican Heritage. I am sure that the world is going to far better understand our culture, as one of a people that the world will love to get to know more and more through a better understanding of who we are, through the artistic interpretations that you create.
