Description

Thank you all for your comments and views on my previous images. I am starting to like taking pictures of smaller things such as butterflies. Have to get a good Macro lens. One with 1:1 magnification. I am not very found of 5:1 or 4:1. Any sugesstions for canon digital SLR? What about Canon 180 mm Macro? Your opinion is invaluable.

Very nice shot - really like the colours. My only thought about a 180mm macro lens is that it will give you the distance to avoid spooking the subject but will be an increase in exposure time due to the longer focal length - not necessarily a problem, just depends on how you intend to use the lens :)

excellent shot mate!!! Ok now about the lenses.... I think it would be better if you were to get the 100mm 2.8 macro from canon rather than the 180mm 3.5. The reason I say this is that when it comes to low light situations the 100mm is going to be easier to handle and you will able to be use it without a tripod. I don't have any of the L series lenses so cant say how it compares but have read that it is close to them!!! Hope this helps ya on your quest for a great macro lens. Oh and the money you save could go into the very nice Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX... Ok so that's how i see it #:o)

Beautiful image. I'm really enjoying your butterflies. I agree with Kai; the 180 is so expensive it would be hard to justify if you're not going to use it professionally. My next lens will probably be the 100 mm macro.
