My name is Chris. Online I'm known as Hex or CTA, or something like that :)
Welcome to my Renderosity homepage I guess... I love to make art and have always loved working with Photorealism and/or Poser Pin-ups. I'm still learning, so comment and help me improve! :DBIOWell, I suppose when I was younger I had an urge to make my own computer games... but I had pretty much no knowledge of how that worked. My dad gave me some software and I thought I could make games with it, but I got rather confused the instant I got in the program. I uninstalled it and left it in the back of the cupboard somewhere...
In later years I had a flashback of that software. I wanted to get into 3D and while I was cleaning out the cupboard I found the PC Pro disk. "trueSpace 3.0 SE". The software that got me started... I had a bit of a play with it, made some basic models, but I knew that I wasn't going to become very good at it. When I managed to get the internet on my computer I looked for later versions of the software and found trueSpace 3.2. The google search brought me to a link within the wonderful site, Planit3D. I became a member and learned about Poser. Once I got my hands on it I had another great big learning curve and years went by of me making and improving on Poser and trueSpace Digital art.
Rather close to the present time now, I managed to get my hands on 3DS Max 7! Using help from an enormous thread at Facepunch Studios, I learned the ways of HDRI. Not only that, but I learned how to incorporate models from Half-Life 2 into that. I'm hoping to share as much of my best work as I can on Renderosity and I hope you like what Art I have to share. :)

Wow, that is really good! Perhaps you could postwork the grass under the blastbeam by making a soft selection and then lightening the levels... make it look like the light is "burning out" that area of the picture. Sorry if I am not clear...?

All I can say is awsome!!!!

Nice work, I love the mech, compositing is great, the blast are quite bright but don't appear to have affected the shadows on the ground, but nicely put together

Thank you all for your positive comments and I'll keep your tips in mind! You've all cheered me up now, I'm glad you like it. "looks real to me, awsome" - gelsdlaw That's exactly what I aim to achieve using HDRI in my images: For it to look well lit (if not using a photograph for a background) and to achieve photorealism. I just love it, I used to dream about doing stuff like this. Thanks again. :)

If this thing will manage crabgrass in addition to other threats, you can take my order now! Great pic, superb if you can get some scuffed grass or footpad indents into the soil.

It's amazing how realistic this is... Your use of HDRI is very powerful. I agree with VRG about lightening the area of the grass below the beams; never would have thought of that meself, but it makes sense. :)
