Description

After wandering about the malls and multiplexes of the city where I will now be spending the next three years of my life, I starting feeling pregnant with songwords after many months of musical sterility. I wrote this song for an upcoming basement concert. Crickets are chirping outside in the dark, As the sweet-smelling night softly lies, Bushes are winking with fireflies alight, Reflecting the stars in the sky, And Life stops here in surprise At all the good she could possibly do, But the moment slips by like before, And she follows it; she slips by too. On the sidewalks where cool people dance To the scent of a thousand perfumes, There are cracks in the sparkling array Where broken folk slip into gloom, And Life quickly moves on before She sees the good she could possibly do; When moments exist like small change, They're not worth spending looking for truth. In the kitchens of middle class homes, Prepared by the ego and id, There is food for thought in the freeze That will lie there till the ages are hid, And Life's like a yuppie in heat Who's burning up in the fire of lust, There's no time to stop or to think; She's gone and boarded the Consumer Bus. On the horizon of aspiring dreams There's no sunrise to banish the dark, Like salmon that are leaping the rocks, There's no surety, no hope that will last, Now Life, from her hut made of mud, Is flying high, down in the fast lane, And the silence where good questions wait, She's filled with pleasure to drown out the pain. Now the houses lie vacant and dark Where Truth's been disarmed by fools, And the times spin out golden beliefs For a new age where lawlessness rules, And Life now has no time at all To search for answers to the questions at last, So she fools herself just one more time, Then she breaks into pieces of glass. Thank you for reading this. :) I appreciate your interest, and would value your comments as always. Best wishes, Hanevi.

I love your take on life from your perspective. Excellent!! Enjoyed your descriptions and the rhyme/rhythm to this piece, also. T.P.

Excellent lyrics. I just wish I could hear the music. The context is thought provoking and penetrating. Your words are like chards reversing direction, seeking to mend a vista of imbalance and return it to clarity of vision. "Progress" isn't always progressive. It can be a pit to fall into, stopping momentum, and requiring a lifeline to escape and see anew. Excesses bring darkness, while balance brings clarity! That applies to all, those running toward the pit, those already in it, and those standing at the edge looking in with rope in hand. Excellent artwork...words painting an image! Top marks!

ARTWITHIN expressed this work so eloquently. You run the gammat on emotions here weaved with insight to the insight to the insight. I'm definately imppressed. For me while I don't know the music you have for this, I sense an bluesy undertone. Wishing you much success with this one! Thank you for sharing.

Breath-taking, as always...... I have missed taking in your words and your beautiful imagery!! I feel that there is a different tone to this work...have you returned to the city?? It seems as if it has been ages since I have heard from you. By the way, a few weeks ago, I was very close to you, as I was in Iran for a while! I wish you the greatest success in your upcoming works and in life as well!!! Best wishes........Azadeh

Fine imagery allied to a tangible rhythm makes for a wholly satisfying song. Mike
