Description

"She lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe "I thought you'd never say hello," she said "You look like the silent type." Then she opened up a book of poems And handed it to me Written by an Italian poet From the thirteenth century. And every one of them words rang true And glowed like burnin' coal Pourin' off of every page Like it was written in my soul from me to you, Tangled up in blue." -select lyrics from Tangled Up In Blue by Bob Dylan

The full view of a Chihuly "monster" in its greenhouse lair at Fairchild Garden. Postwork in PhotoshopCS was done to enhance the lighting and target the primary focus on the sculpture, not the surrounding plants. For those interested: Exposure: 1/100 F-Stop: f/3.2 Max Aperature: f/2.4 ISO: 50 Focal Length: 7.1mm No flash, handheld, pattern metering, stopped down -0.7 ----- Thanks for your chromatic comments on my last upload, Tangled II. Have a terrific weekend everyone. Don't forget, in the northern hemisphere of this planet, the days are starting to get shorter, so make the most of them!

Why the Dylan lyrics you ask? Well, aside from the obvious "tangled" referrence, there is a mention of a pipe, and this twisting sculpture reminds me of some glass pipes I have seen. Also, the massive tangle can also be associated with Bob Dylans convoluted thought processes... ;^P

Heheh!! I know of what you speak! What an amazing sculpture! How many are there? I assume it's not the same one, move from one location to another... I really love this shot, but I wish I could see more around the base, it almost looks like a huge tangle of more snakey glass tentacles? But it is too dark to be sure. Nevertheless, a wonderful shot!!! Towering in it's presence!!!

Glass pipe, you say? Hmmm, well I know more and more people are going over to PVC for potato guns and all that. Glass pipes, you say, hmmm. Learn something new everday. Can't imagine how you'd smoke a pipe like this though...
