Cool scifi scene, like the ships.

Nice ships Mag, I feel however they would seem even more imposing and menacing, if some of the hull was hidden in shaddow. We always fear what we don't know!

Yeah o-q, possibly could have had the forground ship a little darker. (Tune down the IBL) This was created using Vue(4 D'Esprit) for the background and I impotered the finished Vue render as a background into trueSpace 6.6. The nit was the challange to make the 3 models look like they belong in the render. I used a local orange/yellow light (with lens flare) in the far distance and matched its location with the Vue flare/sun. An IBL for some softer shadows. A little bit of Fog forground effects shader in TS 6.6. I like using the fog over a "depth of field" because the Vue background is clear but fogged... tends to look more natural with fog than DOF. Anyways the goal for this project was to see if I could match lighting from one software render to another.

I think you succeeded in your goal - I also think the amount of detail showing is appropriate, apart from anything else if it was all very dark everyone would be saying "too bad we can't see any detail on the spaceship." Cheers.

Mag-nificent! I've commented on this picture elsewhere but I have to say here that it's interesting your space pictures have a quite atmospheric look - of course in an asteroid belt, which is what this looks like - one could anticipate a rather dusty environment. Whatever - it's a great picture!
