Okay, so as we get deeper into the capabilities of Blender3D, so the astonishment as to what it can do grows. Thanks to all the other Blenderers who add their advice and tips and such: you're a great bunch of people!
I managed to throw a whole lot of things in here, not least of which was mist and this morning I accidentally found DOF. Yeeha! (I don't feel like a rank beginner anymore!) Sorry for rambling on. Must go, I got some Blerdering to do...

Wow, I understand your happiness, I`m just in the same state of learning new tools... What renderer did you use? YafRay with automatic DoF, or that crazy circling camera in internal renderer?

sweet, how'd you get dof to work, whenever i try, it just freezes blender and i loose everything i have worked on, both in yafray and out. blender does have capabiliteis far beyond that of almost any other 3d program, especialy any free 3d program. however, blender's interface is so confusing that many take one look at it and give up. all those people who have taken on the challenge of learning blenders interface (all thoes people with ocd) should be awarded.

Excellent work! I love shiney stuff :) I know how much work goes into reflective surfaces besides just pressing the "reflect" button (Like modeling all the stuff you can see in the reflection!) The DOF looks a little grainy here. Maybe try reducing it a little and upping the samples? Excellent work :)
