Description
Long, long ago, more than a century before Mr and Mrs Vespucci in Italy thought of naming their son after a continent yet to be discovered, in "Old Europe" there was a thriving city and port called Ghent. It was a trade center, and there being no Wal-Marts then all deals were negotiated in neat little shops. They still exist. At least the buildings do. Being from Ghent I went to Brussels to capture this model of the Graslei (the "Grass Bank" - as in bank of a river; the river is the Lys) at the Mini Europe theme park. I'll be posting a picture of the real thing this summer.

Hehe, and long before Ghent there was the Forma Urbis Romae (http://formaurbis.stanford.edu/) which was a bit more schematic.
