Description
I always liked the old Korda and Harryhausen and 'Kismet' versions of Baghdad but we have learned in recent years alot more about the city. This picture is based on the oldest drawing of Baghdad that I could find-by British Lieutenant J.Fitzjames,RN.It is looking SW from the location of the Mahdi Palace over the boat Khurasan Bridge towards the Eternity Palace. Nowadays it is from Safinah over the A'adhameyah Bridge towards the Boratha Mosque.
