Description

For those of you whose images I normally comment on and I havent.. I am sorry.. the area where I live was hit hard with floods due to large amounts of rain.. we have actually been declared a disaster area.. most roads are closed simply because they dont exsist anymore.. either they are still under water or the bridges on them that go over the rivers and streams have been destroyed. I thought I would give you a glimpse into the past few days here in my area. The top image is an arial view of the area just the other side of the highway from me . On the bottom left is an arial view of the highway. The bridges collapsed, they had been undermined by the water. Sadly 2 truck drivers lost thier lives when the bridges washed away. In the picture on the lower right you can see the trailer of one of the trucks still in the hole. The other truck and trailer was washed downstream over 1 1/2 miles. The arial shots were taken by my neighbor and he was kind enough to grant me permission to post them.

Hard to know what to say, words never do justice in situations like this. I really feel for you, and all those affected by the floods. It is very sad. Thank you for sharing these pictures, it helps all of us to understand the impact of something like this a little more. I am happy that you are okay, but my heart goes out to those that lost loved ones... *HUGS

Unfortunately, the North of Romania is in the same situation. It's enough to rain one hour to kill entire families. What happens with the wheather?

Great aerial shot! Unfortunately, this is just another harbinger of global warming, so we shall witness more and more of these extreme events -- droughts, flooding, etc. -- as the years go by.

Amy, I see you have edited your story. You forgot this line--"Luckily I live on high ground.. unlucky for me I am now my own island..LOL Why would you write me that you were underwater, lost everything and yet everyday you are uploading. Then I see this. And once again, you change it. Just to let you know, you are a liar and a scam artist! See you in court! ps. I did save the original copy of this :)

I drove thru there 2 days after you posted this on the way to Maine. It's sad the drivers lost there life. The entire area east of where I live (Elmira) had flooding all the way from Broome County on up. and the diverted highway route being only a 2 lane at 45mph was soooo long and a pain both up and back.
