Description

Snatches of tangos wafted through my life in Buenos Aires, it played in taxis and confiterias (cafes), it sang out from stores in certain neighborhoods, it blared out from the radios of my neighbors, but I could never relate to it, despite my birth and upbringing in the cradle of the tango. That is, until I had my heart irretrievably broken when I was in my mid twenties. Then every tango became my tango, and I grew into the sort of womanhood necessary to understanding both its passion and its melancholy. Its the music of heartbreak to me now, the kind of heartbreak you look back on, at peace with your life, with a twisted nostalgia that cannot be helped, because somehow heartbreak has its own sense of esthetics - as poets and painters through the ages have known. This is intended as a 1930s/40s movie poster-ish tribute to the music and the dance, and to celebrate that moment when I finally came to understand the whys and the wherefores. And its also a tribute to the one who broke my heart, a digital wave from a calmer place which, as circumstances will have it, he will never see. Unbelievable .... stunning .... so heartfelt. I feel as though my words are never adequate enough to comment on your work. But with each new piece you post, I just sit and gaze at it's beauty, it's meaning, and your talent. Thank you!!

Beautiful work! Very beautiful! I dance tango - strictly argentine - every day of my life and I tell you it is like a drug -- all consuming, never dull, and never the same. Would love to make eye contact with you at a milonga. We live in California but hope to be in BsAs before the end of summer. Our summer. Thank you for sharing. I can hear La Cumparsita just looking at this picture.
