Description

Big thanx to every click and comment on my post yesterday - I really enjoyed some of the funny comments :) This bird is on the nearly extinct list - there are only 1500 of them and they are totally incapable of adapting to human ways. They are mostly killed by being run over as they spend most of their time on their feet. They also only breed one chick every nine years so breeding is a HUGE issue and it's hard to get the numbers up... This female was so fasinated by the movement and noise of my camera that she followed me every where. There was this piece of plastic stuck to her beak so I braught her closer with my cam as my mom tried to grab the plastic off her beak - it took like 10 mins. after we got it off I was trying to get some shots of her eye - here yelashes must've been 2cm long. They were gorgeous. She stuck her beak thru the fence and banged on my lens.... I can hear you all --- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH but don't worry I had my UV Haze filter on as protection! It really was an experience thou!

I know I know --- focus on the eyes! I tried and got but honestly I thought this shot appealed more to my expirence and the humaniterianness of the situation... (yes I don't think that is a word...)

Super Vera, and I would agree with the focus here. The moment I noticed the focus, it was symbolic of their near extinct status if we don't care for them. As far as I know they are endemic to Africa, so it would be nice if you can post one or two more for people to see a body profile shot.

The focus gives the impression that the bird is slowly fading into oblivion... I guess I'm saying the same thing as Oom Piet, for the second time today LOL. I love your photographic views and journeys, Vera.

Love reading your stories and posting reviews Vera.. And don't be sorry for a post or mess focus :)) Just next time use the TV or manual mode on your cam and choose just single spot.. That will make it easier... Love the shot anyway.. Amazing bird as well.. Thank you and waiting for the next..
