Description

Thanks for stopping by. This is an experiment in layering. It's also part of a growing 'Dakini' SF series I've been working on for some months. I had a story situation in mind as I created this, but I'll let the render speak for itself. The image was built up in D|S by starting with the distant background, rendering, using that render as a backdrop to the next layer, and repeating the process. There are some seven layers in all. I began by expanding Stonemason's Dark Star until it was some 200 scale metres deep. For the first layer, I filled the back tunnel with walking figures (they're now completely obscured by foreground elements). Then came the background figures, the 'firefly' gravity sled built up with Davo's SFV Construction Set (based upon an assembly by Greycat), then the foreground figures (S3, V3, M3) using a variety of resources including shard armour, Concord, PWShaders and lots and lots of scratch texturing). Postwork, (fairly minimal, considering) was done in Photoshop. The Dakini motto - 'Est Dea In Nobis', translates as 'There is a goddess inside us all'. Comments and suggestions are always welcome. I think this is still a work in progress.

Well done, Nysalor! Definately up to your usual high standard! Someday you should write this story... Seran
