Description

"Only in quiet waters things mirror themselves undistorted. Only in a quiet mind is adequate perception of the world." ~Hans Margolius "The voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes." ~Marcel Proust

Okay, we are back at Fairchild Garden for another installment of my Chihuly exhibition series. Geert (girsempa) recently initiated a thread in the Photography Forum to discuss how photography makes us see differently. I thought some wonderful things were discussed about how as photographers we look at the world with more "open" eyes and perhaps see beauty in things that normally would not merit a second glance. Through our photography, share that vision with others. The image above was flipped 180 degrees because I like it that way. Feel free to disagree, but at least I got you to look at it in a way you might normally not have. 8') ----- I has a real BLAST reading your comments on my last upload, 4th of July ~ 2006. Thanks!

Reminds me of when "us kids" would walk around the house peering into a mirror - seeing a reflection of the ceiling would keep us occupied for at least 15 minutes! Clever. :0)

Beautiful! This is in fact the first time I see somebody else beside myself apply that trick: take a reflecting water surface and flip the photo over - believe it or not, I used to do that with a couple of photos, too, many years ago, sadly though, I never made digital versions of them ... I think it works best on ponds with a minimum of suface movement, as in your example. Very nice!

Wow! And I haven't even started drinking yet!! Nice alternate universe you have here!! I would say the sky is falling, but it already appears to have hit bottom! Wonderful inverted composition!!!

Hoy Kort! Apart from all the head-tilting exercises I read about above, this is indeed a very beautiful capture, and the rotation was a good idea here; it adds the impression of a fantastic fairytale landscape with a shimmering sky, accentuated by the wonderful and interesting glass sculptures. The colors and the composition are 'magical'... Beautiful example of 'seeing differently'...! ;o)). I instantly loved it the way you presented it, and I didn't even tilt my head... I wonder if animals hanging upside down (like a fly on a ceiling) really see the world upside down, or do they have some 'correction system'...? Thanks mate, I feel honored!

If you look at some of my images they were not taken in the usual POV and there were some comments to that effect, it is interesting how we percieve things and how we present them, wonderful series of much interest:):):):):)
