Description
Last week my Grandfather celebrated his 90th birthday.
My wife and I were lucky enough to be able to fly to Wisconsin for the weekend of the party.
There were over 200 people there and just more than 100 were actual relatives.
The guest of honor arrived in his Ford Model A
He made quite an entrance on Saturday.
I saw folks I had not seen for 10 years.
"Grampa" was visited by 3 nephews he had not seen in 40 years.
The menu consisted of 1 whole pig BBQed,a dozen
Costco size cans of baked beans,a vast assortment
of "hot dishes",salads, and buns, 5 big cakes,
and more baked goodies than one can count.
People stood up and told stories.
People hugged that hadn't.It was a great time!
Roscoe has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer. Long pain free life is no longer in the cards for him. This was probably the last time I will see him. Leaving to catch the plane on Monday was difficult.
Strong family, the Churchills.
Farmer, hunter, teacher, principal, honorary elder in several Midwestern tribes, environmental activist, and author of "The Buzzards Have Landed" (in publication by next year).
He is much loved by many.
I am one of them.
