Description

AlooooooHa Ya'll!! Been quite busy as of late so posting has been sporadic at best. I managed to sneak away for a few hours this morning down to the ocean to get some snaps. While shooting the waves this morning, passing showers continued to soak me on and off for a couple hours. It was really annoying and I was constantly having to cover my gear and stand with an umbrella till they passed. But on the bright side it produced beautiful rainbows as each shower passed...so turning my cam towards the mountains I got this shot off in the rain. The foreground is quite dark but you can make out newly planted coconut trees planted by the locals here to have some shade in the future. I could have used some shade this morning against the weather...but I'm sure we all go through this one time or another. The white plume on the horizon just under the rainbow is the actual spot of active lava entering the ocean, so I am many miles from the active area. Thanks for dropping in and having a peek, and much Mahalos for your kind comments on my previous images....Have a great weekend everyone!! This image is best viewed at full size! Aloha~

Beautiful capture of this rainbow. The stark foreground and the distinct two tones of blue in the sky makes this a wonderful composition.

Worth all that work, most emphatically! What a terrific capture Dave. Full arc rainbows are a rare sight 'round these parts. And that plume is where Errol got his lava shots? Very neat. Thanks for sharing - Aloha!

Lovely rainbow. I'm glad the rain showers gave you something pretty in return for trying to get you wet. :)

Hello Dave.. Wow high gasp factor here mate, stunning scene. Its clearly brighter inside the bow than out, theres a name for that effect but I can't remember it. Another odd thing is how the cloud looks, almost as if they are forming around the outside of the rainbow, giving it a solid look....weird. All this and volcanic activity as almost an after thought. Saturday night entertainment at its best....Cheers and Aloha

Nice capture.. I always wondered if they were hard to capture in a photo as they tend to be sneaky about when they will show up.

Nice!!! The polarizer really brought out the clouds, and your intro was so interesting. I had to examine the plume. Thanks for taking the time to share this - just gorgeous!
