Description
I got new software!! ;o) so I've been playing for a bit and this is the first image to get out!
This model is from electron microscopy co-ordinetes from the Protein Data Bank (authors: P.R.Kolatkar, J.Bella, N.H.Olson, C.Bator, T.S.Baker, M.G.Rossmann) and is the structure of human rhinovirus 16 (HRV16) complexed with a two domain fragment of its' cellular receptor, intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (D1D1-ICAM-1).
Replicated over an icosahedron using software called Chimera to reproduce the 3D structure of a viral coat. Rendered in Cinema 4D.

I'm actually more impressed with everything that went into making this picture! That only makes the picture that much better! Excellent scientific accuracy and imagery.
