Subtitle: Happy Accident
Initial texture tests in Blender 2.41. I just started fiddling with the materials and textures in the tool this past week. I see lots of potential but it is hard to break away from Bryce.

I agree, it is hard to get away from Bryce textures (I adore the bryce deep texture editor), but the new version 2.42 should be a huge improvement!
