Description

Walking in Lealhome yesterday we spotted three of these public water fountains. The year 1904 was the year piped water arrived in this village. The stone to the top and sides is herringbone dressed York stone. I thought this fountain was so pretty! Thank you for looking and for treasured comments. Have a wonderful day. Hugs. Diane.

What a strange water fountain, at least to my eyes, that are accustomed to plastic, metal and chrome. They really did things up royal way back when. The stonework displays a lot of character and I love the multicolored striated bricks; the whole scene is pretty, a wonderful capture. Hugs from Harry!!!

Wonderful image with a delightful story behind it. That was the year after the first Ford rolled off the assembly line here. It's amazing how much can change in just over a hundred years. Of course progress doesn't always mean better. Often the older things are more beautiful, like this. :-)

I like this photo a lot and I had not noticed the herringbone patterns until I read your narrative. Very, very nice. Dana
