I am enjoying this friendly competition so much as you and Philippe are posting some outstanding nature photographs. This I believe is a Small Skipper butterfly, Thymelicus sylvestris. There are several local variations similar that are very hard to tell apart often only by slight variations in colour on their antenna. The small skipper is widely found especially this time of year.

Lol well I would take issue with Richard I think this is the Large skipper Ochlodes Venatus while very similar to the other skippers it has a hairy end to the tail and is a little more buff in colour.. Nice one anyway my friend

Salut Michel, belles couleurs appropris sur cette photo, c'est sympa tout ces commentaires et ces dedis, on continu! j'ai photographiun papillon de nos rion(pas en serre!) je le posterai plus tard et tu te fras un plaisir de me donner son nom! au menu de demain : my first libellule... au fait j'en ai trouv dans le style de ta nymphe au corps de feu, mais des bleues et des vertes! excellente soir!

This is something I really like about this community : the great interactions between the members... Thank you very much, dear Danny, for outbiding Richard!! I now learned indeed that the skippers family is very large : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skipper_%28butterfly%29 So, at least this is a Skipper and this makes my choice for Kais image even more judicious ! lol ! in French : Sylvaine (I remember a great artist here with this nickname Anyone has some news from her ?) in German : Dickkopffalter in Dutch : Dikkopjes :~)
