Description

"trapped, i'm trapped what did i do to deserve this? i've painted myself into a corner what did i do to deserve this? painted myself into a corner no windows, doors or a ladder trapped, i'm trapped" ~ select lyrics from Trapped by The Circle Jerks

Please, it is a wide image, but view at full resolution for maximum impact. Click on "zoom in" if you don't already have your preferences set that way. I almost went with the title, "And Carbonite For All...," but decided to stick with the more direct approach. The sculptor of this amazing installation is Reuben Hale and its title is Progression. Follow the link to see the full installation. ----- Thank you for your lush comments on my last upload, Jungle Lifeforms.

Sadly, people and their insecurity really have an impact and ruin it for the rest of us. I agree with you wholeheartedly- getting any comments at all is a blessing, not a constitutional right. Gorgeous photo to convey how he must've felt. You are a true artist, my friend.

A very nice tribute to Andreas. Renderosity would be diminished without him. He has encouraged and mentored selflessly, and is unfailingly a terrific human being. Thank you for extending the tribute he so truly deserves.

Fantastic exposure of this work of art, Kort. Monumental capture actually... As for your 'rant', you're a real fine person to support a great friend and one of the hugest contributors to this site, and I would like to 'pay my respects' and support to both of you. Thanks mate(s)!

Thank you Kort, Dave, and Tom.......well said! I think RR needs to stop being a popularity contest and go back to being an "Art COMMUNITY"!!!! Love this piece of art!!!!! Both the sculpter and photographer did marvelous work!!!!!!

Whoever this artist is, there is more than an echo of Lorado Taft, too neglected still.

wonderful image....with a lot to tell...I hope you will find the real artist....because he deserve all the credits.....you did a great job on it to....even when I don't know how the original looks like....I love such kind of images.....and I agree with your words..I also have not always time to comment.....sometimes I just surf around and look a bit.....but don't comment.....but other times I spent some time in there and left some comments...and if I have enough from all....then I will take a break....the best you can do if you feel stressed about it......I agree that you must post for yourself....that's why I am still here.....handy to use this free chance to upload bigger images.....that's why I post here too....and of course for some wonderful friends I have met.....it's all about photographics this place...but often it seems that people forget sometimes the actual meaning behind it..... sorry if you read some miss spelled words...I am still a Dutch one Ilona

As a horror movie devotee, this reminds me of the 1999 movie, THE HAUNTING, with Liam Neesen and Catherine Zeta-Jones. This effect has been used in other movies also. The light and shadow are terrific, Kurt. Almost ephemeral and diaphanous to boot. Keep up the superb work!

I guess it shows how desperate some folks here are for comments??? How sad... Desperation makes you do & say very dumb things!!! I think an apology is in order and the sooner the better!!!! No one here should have to be harrased for comments, that's ridiculous!!!! Or should they have to stop posting because of it!!!!!!! Ok, enough said!!!!!! I think this photo of someones artwork is perfectly ok in my opinion, as long as it didn't have a posted sign that says no photography, however I posted a photo of a poster in my kitchen, and I got a note from a moderater telling me I couldn't do that without acknowledging the artist. There was no artist mentioned on the poster so I thought it was ok?? But, I had to take it off... sooooooo????? I guess it's best to state the artist name if you can... Anyway, I think it's a fabulous piece of art and an incredible photo of it!!!!!!

Wow that is some sculpture and your capture is super. If I were the sculpter I would be thrilled that people liked my work enough to photograph it. I reckon this copyright thing is going mad, doesn't anyone do anything without payment these days. He or she would have been paid handsomely to do it and that should be enough. I am glad you posted this as there is no way I would ever be able to go and see it, so thank you.

Your comments on the comment game here is right on target! People who are in the business of harvesting comments need that to make up for a self-perceived weakness with regards to their own works, of some other lacking area of their own personality. I myself comment only on work that touches me deeply, and although that results in a low comment level in my own gallery, I know when I do get one, either negative or positive, its based on my work, and not a stupid obligatory comment payback. Excellent observations!

Just bloody incredible... and... bugger the rankings and the votes and the comments, while I try... because I like getting them too... hours in a day do not allow me to render and create and comment... so my images are for me... it's nice that someone else enjoys viewing them.... Thanks for the comments you made above... I feel much better now!

That is an amazing sculpture! ... and I agree completely with every word in your third paragraph about Comments. I certainly appreciate each and every one I receive, but the idea of hounding somebody to comment on my work is just... pathetic. There is one individual (I won't name) who for a period would message me whenever he uploaded, and it actually turned me off, so I didn't comment, and he eventually left me alone. Sometimes, I see the reverse: people apologizing for not having the time to comments. Folks, there is no need to apologize! You are under no obligation to comment on somebody's work, even if they comment on your's.

Very dramatic imagery nicely enhanced by the lighting/shadows and the noteworthy rant as well :-)!! I have seen very similar sculpture technique using caste concrete done by a US artist in 1985. Where was the photo taken? That could help ID the artist. Thanks for the excellent image
