Description

Ultrafractal 3.02 Here's one I've been holding on to since my "brown period". (more like "Brown 45 from Uranus Corp" - name THAT movie and you'll be dating yourself - lol) I'm not real sure about it, but it seems to have grown on me so I figured I'd see what y'all thought. Maybe too dark/muddy or artsy-fartsy? I'm fixing to be down for a few days while I 1) install the Waterchill Xternal cooler to my too-hot-for-comfort CPU and Northbridge chips, 2) Re-flash new firmware to my Maxtor Diamondmax HHDs that should solve a timeout/hangup problem in RAID configs that they don't - offcially - own up to until you actually call and ask for the specific files. And 3) I may decide to wipe my RAID 0, Marvell SATA2 setup and reconfig to use the Intel IHCR7 chipset on my mobo that is supposed to be much more stable. Too many little weirdnesses running this Marvell setup. Sure hope I don't leak antifreeze all over the place and the pump is reliable. Software should shut my rig down if things get too hot. Gonna try for a fairly conservative overclock around 4.2-4.4GHz (Intel got 5.5GHz out of this setup - too risky for my tastes) to use just when rendering. Sigh - I'm having fun with this new beast but sometimes wish for the serenity of a store-bought pc - lol. Thanks, again, for stopping by and especially for your MUCH appreciated encouragement and occasional really valuable suggestions/critiques! Rick

Nice image. I'd rather a slow machine that runs while I'm sleeping, unless someone else was going to deal with all that, but I do understand the pleasures of tinkering. Wonder how much RAM helps and how much Clock Speed helps. I do a bunch of POVray tracing and I've had those images and also UF run for a week! When they going to release them dang nano-computers???

The colors are great, the textures are a marvel, and you have another image that is simply gorgeous. Bunny

Rick - excellent atmosphere in this! I saw Pirates of the Caribbbean the other night and this would fit in perfectly! I like it!

Real nice Rick. I like the ripples coming from bottom right, and the surface effect. And of course, the natural colors. I hope you don't mind me saying that I find the diagonal 'lines' from the layered image running across some of the 'leaves' a bit distracting.

For me, this image speaks of voluntary, comfortable desolation, of a will to depart from what surrounds us; to find peace in awaiting the end of one's path here, devoting our remaining time to seeking true beauty, a state of serenity in the middle of the world's insanity. Exceptionally beautiful art, artsy-fartsy or not ;D !!!

Well your "brown period" I have always enjoyed! This one is no exception. It is really lovely. And I have no idea what you said about your computer, but enjoy reworking it.
