Description

Wandering drunken through pastures Under gathering storm clouds far off Crying over lost and forgotten dreams Given over to practicality and responsiblity To people and the ideals of others long gone Where did it all go? Why did I let them die Like withering plants on the kitchen sill? I neglected my dreams and now I am afraid Never to see my childhood's magic Never to see my girlhood's desires Never to see my woman's needs Fulfilled within my life The horses watch me with wary eye As I stagger along their narrow paths But listen to my rantings and ravings Like no one else As they do not live by Time Swishing tails flick to each Wish never granted Goal washed away When Life took over I am in the wrong era On the wrong Earth I cry out your name and plea Yet only a whisper returns "Hush, my love..." From gray clouds in the heavens From daisies dancing on the wind And moss beneath my head My soul soothes the heart's ache The dimming light pacifies my eyes As the breezes tease dry my cheeks Replaced by nature's tears For she mourns her own losses --Ramona L. Nice work on the wail. Even better work with the sketch of the horses flicking their tails adding to the sense of futility, and the withered plants lending a hint of nepenthe. Well done, for a wail. The barely focused photo(?) is a great choice for this piece. But gee, I'd like to know the motivation of how the "I" character came to this pass. The writing is too good for a failed character. -- Dick

"If wishes were horses than beggars would ride"(Song by Kenny Rogers & The First Edition - late '60s.) Wonderful piece of writing!

Lamenting my love? Pick up the pieces, do what you can. Stop morning the losses and go forward. Somedays you sound like K. ;)~ But I love you anyway. LOL XOXOX

"breezes tease dry my cheeks" is brilliant. It may be a habit of Pedioi (Plainsmen). A drunkard's walk on the summit of a volcano, dead or alive, is statistically risky....

"Like the sound of silence my dreams seem so distant. Yet truly they are always with me forever my home within the sleeping hour!" Beautiful words that draw the image well. Bravo!!!...:))
