Some of you know me as 3D newbie chemicalX here, but I decided to focus my gallery on my new passion in life - photography. I've been dabbling around in photography for a few years now and I've fallen head over heels in love with it. My partner, Shane, got me a Canon EOS 20D for my birthday and started me on a path of obsession! A path that I would like to share through this gallery. The chemicalX gallery will stay up to showcase my 3D stuff and if I do ever get back into it, I'll upload those things there, so keep an eye on that too. I appreciate any feedback I get, so if you have any comments or critique (be it good or bad - as long as it's done in a "civilised" way), please do tell me - it's the only way that I'm going to get better at this. Also, eventhough I don't say thank you to everyone on an individual basis, I do appreciate all the feedback and comments you guys give me. Unfortunately 'rosity makes it quite a mission to say "thanks" to a comment. So just because I don't thank everyone individually, doesn't mean that I am not grateful for all the feedback. Thank you to all of you. If you would like to see more of my stuff, you can check out my gallery on dA. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy my gallery. Take care, Yak

Great capture and pose! Not everyday that one sees a King Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatu rex)

nice shot, but i think cheetah with these strange markings are not a separate species, just a mutation ? the theory as to why cheetah are so genetically bottlenecked is that the species evolved in Asia, but became extinct there (just a few left in Iran), so that we are left only with an African population descended from just a few individuals. there is some interesting stuff at www.cheetah.org

wingnut, you are correct, yes. It is not a different species. Acinonyx jubatu rex can have "normal" parents and can have "normal" offspring. It's just a, as you say, mutation.
