Description

Another image from a couple months ago on the outskirts of Beijing. The locals capture the wild songbirds and sell them to the tourists. I almost - almost - paid the guy for it, just so I could open the cage and free it. Do you find this sight as heartbreaking as I do? I couldn't decide which image to post, so I used one for the thumb and the other for the fullsize.

I agree, it's terrible to imprison anything, except in one case: it might temporarily be beneficial - in the presence of a cat or predator. Guess that would be more volitional at best - "free predator protection as long as you want to stay". Sadly, it's probably a prison song in this case. Still I like the photo!
