To find the treasure, follow the black spider.... Fantastic image (one you really to zoom in to fully appreciate its beauty) - BRAVO!! :)

The composition is stunning, encompassing images that interest me. But then looking closer, it is not so clear a pirate image was intended. Certainly the cob-type doubloon, emerald and pearl items are treasure, and the doubloons and the map of Hispaniola in the Caribbean (with rhumb lines)evokes a 17th century period. (Hispaniola was also the name of the schooner chartered to seek Flint's treasure in RSL's Treasure Island) But the rum bottle is a different time period. The books, fine wood table and silver candlestick imply a more cultured locale, the spiral handled sword also. The handle is associated with a rapier (a gentlemens weapon) but the blade appears flat. A boarding cutlass would be more likely for a pirate. The position of the items around the map obscure the Isle of Tortuga, and the Silver Shoals can't be seen. But overall, the image is appealing and leaves me wishing for more. I wish I could do such work. I would like to know the source of the map, and why the spider?
