Just got a digital camera for Christmas and
figured it was about time I learn how to
use the darn thing.. My biggest problem
is dealing with red eye or white eyes (when
dealing with pets..) Any suggestions
would be very much appreciated.

What a precious pup - great shot! :-) I just got a digital camera for Christmas too, and am having a wonderful time with my cats and dog - I found that if I turn on the room lights, then turn the flash off and adjust the white balance to incandescent, I don't get the red eyes, although sometimes I have to adjust the color in postwork a lil bit!

Oh this is so adorable.

Ah, my area of expertise - 15 years worth. When photographing animals or people you can do one of 2 things: easy way is if your camera has a red eye flash setting (it will fire twice in a row, the first to make the pupil get smaller and the second exposes the image (less red eye due to smaller pupil) or the better but harder way of using a detachable flash and holding it (by hand or with a bracket) about 45 degrees ABOVE the subject. Red eye (or "gree eye" for pets is caused by the light bouncing off the retna of the eye). Of course the easiest way is just retouching it in photoshop! Your dog is adorable. And of course you know, I am a huge fan of your wonderful 3d work! If you like photos you can check out my photo site at http://www.geocities.com/dorothyleephotos - sorry no tips there just pics.

what a little cutie! please give Dolly a hug for me! :)

the reason you get red eye is because the flash is too close to the lens. Dorothylee gives some great advice. You can also bounce the flash off the ceiling. WHAT A cutie pie doggie!

What a great photo of a most adorable little companion - Dolly is exactly that - a little doll! I have been commissioned numerous times to do 2D paintings of people's pets Stormi - and over half of them NEVER provided me with such a clear and beautiful photo of their beloved 'Puffy', 'Fido', or "Black Beauty'. I fail to see what all the fuss is over 'red eye' though - this image doesn't have it - at least that I can see - but perhaps it did, and you've since corrected it. Either way, it's an absolutely darling image, and one you yourself should consider doing in 3D - you certainly have the skill!

Cute pup! :D Now I know how you got so good at painting hair, you practice by painting your doggy. ;D Oh don't use a flash, set up lights.
