Description

Painted with gouache on paper. Commisioned for last years celebrations for battle of Trafalgar. I promise there is no overpainting but yes it is an interpretation of an original(customer had bought wrights from maritime museum to use Nelson images). I was asked to do this so that it could be printed for ceramics and so needed to be detailed in the face and loose elswhere for cropping purposes( this is about actual size of painting) So hand on heart this is all done freehand with good old brush and paint.

Hmmmmm.....I dunno, seems like an overpainting of Lemuel Abbott's original portrait. Kinda suspicious.....could be wrong, but I checked all the reference books I have about Nelson, that show Abbott's painting, and this does look overpainted.....sorry
