Description

It took a long time for me to make this one, lots of iterations, and I'm still not completely satisfied with it. For awhile I thought I had something genuinely unsettling going on, but later I realized it was missing something. I still haven't found that missing something. Any thoughts on what that might be are welcome, but please no unthinking praise or trolling; if you can't think of anything to suggest, just don't say anything at all. A quick side note: The face in the TV was inspired by a scene from John Dies at the End [the scene with the guy with the mask-like face watching the narrator through his tv]. Big thanks to all the people who offered advice on this image in the "going for 'creepy'" thread in the 2D forum, especially bevchiron. No I am not sucking up to an admin, they had some really insightful things to say. Also big thanks to syncprodz, clix, brainloc, and Mikael Bowellan for their stock photos. Here are the original versions of the face and the TV static, but sadly Bowellan's account is suspended and clix seems to have removed the TV in the wall photo from their gallery. Sigh. EDIT: i shouldn't be assuming people's gender identities. i apologize. edited to fix that. EDIT [Sept. 2014]: and i screwed up again the same way when mentioning clix. very sorry. i am also very sorry for taking so extremely long to remember/notice and correct my failures here.

Very nice manipulation here my friend :) It reminds me of one of one of my best friends a DARK ARTIST and his well known NICK NAME IS: FANSTERER if you heard of.. Same style and same soft tones/colours and almost everything (CONCEPTS), this is totally amazing piece.. and very well done again.. Thank you for sharing your art with us and have a nice day/night JOE

I kind of like it as it is - if unsettling is what your aim is, it works for me (though in a gentle, non-threatening way). The things that spring to my mind to potentially add are ears embedded in the walls (elephant ears might work nicely), an insect (a fly on the wall?), or some kind of representation of an electronic listening device. Of course, in the spirit of surrealism, anything unexpected & unpremeditated could potentially work as well...
