Description

Whenever I see these I think of my grandmother's blackberry cobbler. She would make me and my sister go with her to a nearby cow pasture where we would pick gallons of blackberries in one day. I didn't like doing it because of the chiggers, briars, and always looking for Mr. Black's bull (the bull was mean). Granny would work all evening washing, cooking and canning blackberry preserves. There would always be a special, special blackberry cobbler that night. These blackberries are a little late ripening because they are shaded by the other plants. I'm going to pick them in about two days. Yummy.

Thanks for this photo. And thanks for leaving the "ratings" thing off and accepting comments only. I finally learned the best was comments overall. You have chosen a simple subject most would overlook. Yet, this does stir memories of days waiting for the ripening and then off to pick the berries. We always got "chiggers" while gathering the delicious fruit. Thanks so much for this slice of life picture, nice color and composition of an often overlooked subject.

Beautiful shot. I love the sunight through the leaves. Ours are just beginning to come to in, mostly all green still as they are all in shadier areas. Sounds like we are farther north too, we don't seem to have chiggers. I suspect if I knew what they were, I wouldn't miss them around here, LOL. We do have ticks and fleas and other blood suckers!

Ooops....I got there first, rotfl!! Yummy....you have me drooling. What wonderful memories you have. I loved my grandmother dearly...she never said an unkind word about anyone. My memories are of the beautiful hollyhocks that grew along her garage....they were spectacular. Your photo here is expertly captured. The blurring is just right to create interest. Well done!!
