A Dutch good friend introduced me to R'osity... and now, I really feel good in this community : I enjoy a lot your friendship and comments !BIOWith a few exceptions (indicated), I'm using a simple CANON Digital IXUS i... Sometimes, I do some postwork using ArcSoft PhotoStudio 5, but I just installed Adobe PhotoShop 7.0...
But now, after having seen all these beautiful shots, I just bought (Nov 2004) myself a new camera : NIKON 70 D !
I'm a chemist, leading a small R&D team in polymers (My greatest pleasure is to stimulate creativity...) I'm also studying to become a patent attorney...
I'm living in Belgium and enjoy travelling, hiking (going out every week-end is a vital must !), reading (my French preferred authors are Marc Ly, Jean-Christophe Grang Amie Nothomb,...), music (great fan of US female voices : Jennifer Warnes, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, ...) and ... photography ! :~)
Bien cordialement aussi aux amis francophones !

Excellent macro and I respect you attitude towards these hairy arachnids. These "tails" at the back are quite important in making an accurate identification - excellent reportage. They visit our bathrooms in search of water - normally. Great work!

I've heard that a house with many spiders won't have cockroaches. Tell that to Marie... I've also heard that an average house has some 2500 spiders living in it... So if you kill one, there are still 2499, LOL. Excellent depiction and capture, Michel!

Not sure which one is better to have in the house...spiders or roaches. I'm glad the spiders in your house, lol. Beautiful capture here. Aloha

Very impressive macro work,Michel.I know how small these are.Well done!LOL at your quote from Ellen Degeneris. She has a point.I guess I'm one of the bad guys...I just nailed one a few hours ago.Not with a sneaker, but with a gazillion paper towels all wadded up.And ewwww,it's leg came off.Brrr.It's okay,though...my husband always saves them from my evil grasp and sets them free.Too bad for 'Stephanie' he wasn't home...LOL.-M :^)

This is one fantastic photo of a great spider! Love the story :) I have those spiders in my home, too .. and I can never bring myself to killing them. So, I close my eyes to them and go along my way.

I hope you didn't pick it it with your bare hands! This is a venomous spider, called a Hobo Spider. This is a female. The males have little pom-poms on the front "feelers". I had a couple... they were stung to death by bees. Very Weird. I've got a big female in a case... but the biggest so far I've seen and I wish I had something to put her in at that time... was 2 and a half inches in circumference(sp) by far the largest ever seen. Our males are black and smaller here (Kelowna, B.C. Canada... partial desert country). This is Hobo, Black Widow Territory and wow could I tell you tales of big spiders! Whoa! If you like I have taken a picture of a black widow funnel... not a great pic, but you can see the wonderful work she did. And a little spider trivia: Venomous Spiders (although they have 8 eyes) are blind. This is why they run and why they don't rear up to ward you off. If something hit's their web, they run out and grab it in hopes it's not bigger than them and they don't get eaten.
