Description

these are surprising hard bugs to capture. when you move close they move sideways around to the other side of the tree in a split second. I never tried to find their name so they will be bugs for now thanks for viewing and comments I added information about the defunct mall in my comments yesterday

Great shot of the cicadas- usually one finds their shells left after they've changed into the full insect- and,of course, the buzzing sound that one hears on hot, late summer days. However, your image is unique, enabling one to actually see these curious locusts.

I think these are leafhoppers, related to that blue and orange "sharpshooter" in my gallery. I know exactly what you mean about them zipping to the opposite side of the branch, it makes it very difficult to capture them. Beautiful shot with excellent DOF.

It must be an insect which is familiar to the grasshoppers! Fascinating macro shot! Have a look at night time whether they are able to glow or not! Excellent posting! Thanks for it!!!

They are a creepy lil critter..............lmao I love the closeup and your right they do move to the other side.Upclose they have the characteristics of a locust somewhat. I have no clue what they are. Thank you for the peek I have never seen them upclose but have wanted to just because they are so elusive! EXCELLENT!!!

Those are crazy little critters--it looks like nature painted a false "EYE" on their 'ass wings'so that other bugs would think they were scary monsters..or maybe it's just me connecting the dots..great photo !

To find such colors in a nasty little bug is precious! I say nasty because if they landed on you their feel would be noticeable for something almost without mass. They would brush you with their wings.

What a great shot!! I do beleive that it is a Cicada too...they make a lot of noise and are sometimes mistaken for tree frogs (the noise they make). Great detail in this shot! I mean...check out that "butt" hole! :)
