Description
Another part of the Heidelberg caste. It's the ruin of the "powder-tower", it was the stock with a lot of gunpowder. It was destroyed in the year 1693 by the french troops and broke in two parts.
Once it was 42.5 meters (1673 feet) high, the ruin is 33 meters (1299 feet) now. Thanks for your interest.
I wish you all a great weekend!!!

Miladyblu beat me to it, lol. What a magical ambience about this. The lighting here really brings focus to the structure. I love the way the richly colored trees cradle and support this building. Beautiful shot!

Wow! This is really cool! It's a literal 'cutaway' view of this old structure, giving us insight into the building methods of the period. I imagine they thought it was safe to store powder there with walls so thick! Great shot, Klaus!!

fascinating place, well captured. We have a castle near here with very similar damage but this time caused by earth slip. I like the postwork it has given it an other worldly kind of atmosphere.
