Description

Firstly, I'd like to thank those of you who were kind enough to view and leave comments on my last upload,"Falcon Eddie".I always appreciate them. After seeing Akemi's(Nongo) recent upload,I now know Eddie is a red-tailed hawk...But I have no idea what this guy is.You would think he's a red-shouldered hawk, wouldn't you?But alas he is not,(at least from what I've seen on the web). So,if any of you know what he is,that would be great. For now he's simply NOT a red-shouldered hawk, lol. Btw,this is just another shot of one of that hawk/falcon guy's birds at last year's Scottish festival. Hope you like it and don't find it too boring. Thanks for looking and any comments you may wish to leave. Wishing you all a wonderful week. Marlene PS I would've named this 'Edie Falcon',but I didn't know if any of you would know who she is.LOL.

I have never seen a more beautiful bird of prey. Your capture of the expression seems to tell words. He looks puzzled or very deep in thought. Now that is good photography to put out an image that makes you get right into it. This ranks up top in the world of bird photography. Enjoy the week Marlene. Hugsss

nice portait. i agree with Morgano- Harris's Hawk, from the American southwest. at first the colour on the wings had me stumped, it is so bright, but then i saw 'scotland' = sean connery = that kevin costner robin hood film = it had had a Harris's in it, or am i confusing it with the one with uma thurmingy ? anyway, Harris's are popular with falconers because they are by nature cooperative hunters, working in pairs or trios to flush their prey from undergrowth.

This is pretty boring stuff. It's just a plain ole hawk with red wings. Now if he had two heads, or an alligator mouth, then you would have something....lol..just kidding of course...this is really an awesome shot of this beautiful bird. Where did you take this in order to get so close??? Who is Edie Falcon?

A tighter crop could have done the trick. I do realize they have tough time posing for the camera and these models hardly listen :)

It's true,I could've done a tighter crop, but I think his red shoulders are what makes this pic work and didn't want to lose any of it.
