MY!!! They're carrying the Hilton with them! The huge packs and heavy loads look painful - sure hope the trail is wide by the cliffs. But I guess it's better to be warm come nightfall. And I vaguely recall how much energy I had at that age, tho it seems impossible now. :) Terrific photo!

When I first saw these guys and girls I thought for sure someone was going to slip and fall in. The current was ripping pretty good and I had tried to walk across myself earlier and turned around. I had my cam ready for the action, but everyone of them made it across with no mishaps. Or could it be I was scared of falling in the water twice in one day? Nice shot of these hikers here buddy! Aloha!

Interesting shot. Why are the packs so big? Why are they so bunched up? Just what the heck are they doing?

LOL@EweSaidIt. More than likely these hikers will stay overnight at least. Its a 9 hr hike to Waimanu Valley and probably 10 hrs to return. The hike is steep with many streams to cross. As for why they are packed very close together, I don't know as I wondered the same thing myself...lol. Thanks for asking. Aloha

Very apt mood, windy, grey and the hikers captured against a huge swell - excellent.

The only reason I can think of as to why they are so close together is because they are scared. Why the huge amount of luggage? The backpacks look positively homemade. Far too large and bulky. All of this makes a really interesting photo.
