Description

This is also part of the ruins of the mine at Wheal Coates at St Agnes in my native Cornwall, that I featured yesterday. At low tide, part of the mine workings are accessible through a large cave at the far end of Chapel Porth beach, where I nearly came unstuck trying to explore. Local legend tells that Wheal Coates is haunted by the ghosts of miners who tragically lost their lives whilst working in its depths. There is a grid covering a shaft that goes right down to the ocean certainly some ghostly sounds can be heard, as well as the crashing of the waves.. The unique high quality tin of St Agnes was formed by action between the granite and the complex rock around the area's cliffs. However these grand old ruins do add great majesty to this wonderful coastline.. Thanks for taking time to look.. No postwork other than cropping after some correction for the wide angle lens distortion..

I really like how you offset the subject slightly to better define the line between the dense and less pronounced clouds. What a eye for detail, Danny. You always have something valuable to teach. Thanks for the intro too - I really like the history.

The only ruins I had to explore as a boy were the Chicory plant from about WW-II and the chimney of a Ford glass plant on the sands by an inlet to lake Huron. These more ancient ruins had to wait for history books. By the book, is my idea as I gaze.

Very 'in yer face' POV - makes it a powerful image. It's sad too when you think of those who toiled here all their lives. Love the Cornish shots - makes me want to visit Cornwall.
