I think I had a vision like this while reading about quantum-mechanics. Cool metaballs and animation! Now if you could put this on your Christmas tree . . .

Anything is possible, some things are possible. These are. Sounds like a diffcult programme to me. You are very clever.

Very nice. I did something similar a week ago as an experiment (using the randomiser tool to make a 0-gee gell thing blow apart). Mine took 22 hours to render on a Mac mini. How long did yours take and on what machine?

Good question AeroJett, 7.75 minutes on a G5 dual 2GHZ Macintosh, in Bryce 5.

When it comes to animation and you I think anything is possible and I'm always amazed at what you can accomplish.

So is that done like a cartoon animation with lots of frames? And how are you stretching and changing the shapes? It's very effective.

Yes them meta's are fun in animation ----and very unpredictable when you need detail persition --bad choice ---But for a fill as say a Kneecap to join leg together and have a reasonable movement --they are great ---LOVE your playfull display Digimon--You Had Fun and it shows !!!

Good question Rozanne! There are only 7 frames in this one. About Meta Balls Meta Balls have magnetic attraction to one another, as soon as they get close enough to another one, they warp their shape and connect, two Meta Balls make one shape, three make another. The shapes were expected, what suprised me was that they blended their color too!! Very cool. So all this animation really is, is a bunch of Meta Balls spinning around and colliding with each other. All the shape changing and color blending happens automatically.

Thanks for the lecture, Eric :-) This nucleus thing seems to emulate natural phenomenon like water in zero-g held in place by gravitational or magnetic forces. All very curious and the ideal subject for animation. btw, I like your QuickTime movie suggestion. Maybe we could try a basic experiment together? Stand by. Energize the the animation generator!
