Description
Hi Everyone;
I thought of trying something different. I had never photographed horses before. Was able to only take 2 action shots at this session (arrived late). Please be as critical and honost as you truly feel. What do you think of this image? Motion blur has been added. What can I do to improve my future action shots?
Thank you for viewing
Based on the first 3 comments, I re-posted the image with corrections recommended. But, please keep them coming ...

WOOOOOOOOOW hadi!! First how are you my friend! Long time eh! Hopefully you are doing well and good. Now.. So glad to be the first on your postwork today.. I wanna tell you that this is really amazing capture.. I imagined that shot so still! Started from the head of that horse and the rider.. And kept imagining.. The motion bluss you added is nice touch tho. But i guess that shot by it self will rock more if it was clear with no filters.. I can tell what you wanted to do here.. But again, i won't use the motion blur but a trail blur with a wide open angle of 180 degrees. You know what i am talking about! And make it as a 2 sec long exposure then blend it about 50%. It is just an openion tho.. I really love the shot.. Either way.. But since you asked, what do we think and also for our honest feelings/critics. Here i am bro :) It is just an openion tho.. But my liking to this shot, honestly.. I love it.. Thank you and hope to see some more horses please.. I want a white one :) Have a nice weekend bro.. JOE

I love this shot! I can agree with what Fotografo_arg is saying about the blur should have been added to the horses head as well. Maybe not as much, but a little. Other than that i think its perfect. Oh...and it would have been swell if that girls hadnt been cut off by the forehead. #:O)

(OP and BZ) In action shots you have, basically, a moving subject against a still background. If you set a very high speed (1/1000) both are frozen. Using 1/250-1/125 and the camera still, you can see some movement on the subject and if you follow the movement of the subject you'll see a still subject against a moving background. I guess you know this but adding a motion blur in all the picture makes a moving subject against a moving background which makes a moved photo :[. In addition, you didn't blurred the horse's head so it's a bit strange that part of the horse is blurred and part not. I suggest leaving the blur on the background but mask the blur on the horse and it will look much better. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (RP and AZ) Edited: strange that now you can't make more than one comment in the same image. Now Zacko agrees with me "before" I wrote my comment :] Anyway Looks better now but for a more realistic effect you should change 2 things in the blur. 1) You are using a 40~45 angle, try changing it to the same angle as the horse directon (20~25). 2)Reduce the "distance" in the motion blur settings. This setting you used can only happen when following a very fast moving subject like a race car. OP and BZ: original post and before Zacko's comment RP and AZ: repost and after Zacko's comment
