Description

The second of two photos of lake and tree reflections I took some months ago at the beautiful Los Angeles Botanic Garden in beautiful Arcadia, California. Those are the San Gabriel Mountains in the background. Actually, when I took the picture I didn't intend composing a lake/tree reflection shot, concentrating rather on the various palms at the water's edge. I didn't realize at the time that reflection photos were among the favorite themes with Renderosity photographers. Otherwise I would have dropped the POV and included more of the lake.

I like the shot "as-is." I think if you'd moved the horizon to 2/3rds, you would have lost the fabulous oasis. To me, it is the focus of the image, and perfectly captured. The reflections are icing in this case.

A beautiful photo indeed. I can just imagine how perfect this place would be to shoot with a wide-angle. #:O)
