Description
Ok, so this isn't as sad as it looks. I was pretty happy last Friday afternoon, mostly because I had decided to take a half day at work! Upon walking up my steps to go home, I noticed a sparrow with a broken wing right in front of my door. The wing was fully extended off her body and dragging. I quickly ran in the house to get a shoe box and proceeded back out to pick her up. Later on, we took her to the vet. The vet stated that her wing was broken very badly and that she probably would not be able to fly, but isn't absolutely sure. We decided to have her wing splinted and to keep her, well hopefully until she heals. If she can fly then we can release her.
Right now she has her own cage, tons of food, to which she allows us to feed her by hand, and a a bunch of toys which she is delighted to throw around her cage. We decided to name her Peeps!
We did make sure that the splint around her body is safe and cannot hurt her in any way. We take her back to the vet in a month to have the splint removed.
Thanks for meeting Peeps! =)

it was really kind of you to help the lonely sparrow. I think they are beautiful and they have the heart of an eagle. they challenge much larger birds for their share of food. excellent fotos

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!! what a story here!! How nice to help a little creature like this!! You must have a very big white heart tho!! In fact you saw one with a broken wing!! Last two weeks.. I saw one in the street stock to a big wide area of GLUE!!! and he was almost deing! God only knows how long it was there with no food or water!! I took him/her out of the glue, and went to the nearest shop, guess what! It was a watch repair shop. The guy said the only way to take all that glue off is to clean him/her with Thiener!! I said it will burn, he said yes.. Oh well.. I just took that little birdy and went home :)) Some warm water and nothing else.. Cleaned him all!! It was almost one ball or GLUE in my hand.. I dried him/her and Surprise!! Did fly away!! And am happy now for what i did.. Very nice shot my friend.. And you did the right thing.. Like Andreas mentioned.. Wish there a lot of people out there like you.. Thank you for sharing and helping that little creature.. And have a nice day.. JOE

Ooooh, so glad you did. Not many people would bother with such an act. It's nice to know there are others out there who care:-) This little guy knew who to let find it.

What a sweet shot! My goodness, how would one splint a tiny little wing like that!?? How very kind of you to take on this little peep and nurture it back to health. I hope it stays near and comes back to visit you after you release it back into nature. Kudos to you for your kind act.
