Description
A couple of these guys have been hanging around my place lately. I think this is a Mississippi Kite. If I'm wrong please let me know, I would like to add them to my "Backyard Bird Chart".
Thank you for viewing, and all your comments/criticisms are very much appreciated.

I have no clue, couldnt correct you, but Ill pretend your right ;-) Great shot, I like the angle you shot, showing most of the sky, and less of the tree :-)

Cant help ya with the identification....i cant even tell a crow from a sparrow, lol. I do know what a beautiful shot this is though. Perfect clarity and clean composition. #:O)

there are black-shouldered kites around here (silicon valley) but they have white tails. I could never get this close to them (they nest in the pine trees).

You are absolutly right. It is an adult Mississippi Kite " Ictinia mississippiensis" Mostly found in Central Great Plains, Gulf Coast and up the Atlantic coast into the Carolinas. A great capture of this very nice male.
