Description
And still yet another capture between 12/8/05 and 12/19/05, when nature put on a wild and weird display of cloud formations rarely seen over Southern California. Haven't done one of these in a while.
I'm not a meteorologist but my research indicates that the high level, thin wispy clouds are of the cirrus variety at 20,000 ft. The black, puffy lower level clouds could be nimbostratus at around 6500 ft.
Surprisingly, no rain resulted from all this posturing.

beautiful sky :-)

INDEED!!! Indeed a beautiful sky!!!! Do you mind if im being picky? No? Okay...thanks, lol. I would suggest you cloned out that black dot at the bottom left corner...that looks like a flagpole or something....and by doing so have an all-sky-compo. Love the blue sky and those fluffy clouds. Have a wonderful day. #:O)

Zacko: Picky, picky, picky! Okay, good suggestion about that black line. Didn't even notice it. The cloning begins now at 12:06 PM PDT.

Interesting streaks, a real play with light and atmospheric colors.

Quite a spectacular change of color and texture across the image. You're right - one doesn't get to see something like this often. Nice shot!
