Description

"Captain Ian Skyhawke reporting as ordered, sir." The young pilot snapped off a smart salute as he spoke. He was a tall man with features that still held much youth and as he stood at attention before the general's desk, it was easy to see that this was one of the pride of the UAS Military. "At ease, Skyhawke," General Hagen said offhandedly, "And shut the door." Ian noted that his commander seemed to finally be settling into the office. The general had been reassigned to the new Allied base in Europa in order to be closer to the war effort and most of the action. The war against the Iron Legion had reached a stalemate for the time being, and something had to give sooner or later. It was best to be prepared. Behind the general, his secretary Irene stood ready to take the minutes of the meeting. Briefly Ian made eye contact, and she smiled at him. She had a very beautiful smile... "Skyhawke, are you familiar with Doctor Henri Marceau?" the general asked. Ian snapped back to the meeting at hand. "He was a scientist of some kind. I think I've heard Mickey mention him." The general raised an eyebrow. "You're still using that woman as your mechanic?" Ian sighed inwardly. Here we go again. "If I may speak freely sir," he answered, "Mickey's one of the best mechanics I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She's as good as her father, possibly even better." "Better than Patch McIver? I find that hard to believe." "Sir, you said something about Doctor Marceau?" Ian asked diplomatically steered the conversation back to more immediate (and safer) topics. "Ah yes, Doctor Marceau... Specialist in physics and engineering from Gaul. Supposedly before the war began he had been developing a new power source, one that could create nearly unlimited energy. Unfortunately, he never created a working prototype." "Oh?" "Supposedly he discovered he had no way of controlling the reaction once it started and the resulting effect would be a massive uncontrolled burst of energy. He called it 'La Lumi

Author's Notes: My second attempt at illustrated storytelling, this time with a "pulp" feel. No schedule yet, but I hope to produce chapters on a timely basis, unless real life intervenes. Hope you enjoy it. :)

Great storytelling! And the image has a definite retro feel, reminds me of Thunderbirds (oops, betraying my age). Can't wait for the next episode!
