Description

At some point you try to forget. So you go. Many years pass and you wonder if all your fears were real or imagined. Maybe just maybe it's safe. Maybe it's time to go home. Surely, it's been long enough. Surely they've learned. Because you've earned it. In your lifetime there will be many birthdays. How you choose to mark all your birthdays is up to you. The first day your draw your first breath. The day you find out your mother is really your step-mother 10 years later. The day you turn 25 and had a mid-life crises. Today you turn 35; another birthday - you learn that you can never go home again. You learn that you were right all along. There is no room; there is no love for you. Some celebrate birthdays by candlelight. Your birthdays are lit by the blade of the flame. Each milestone painful as the one before. What will the next birthday bring? And after you've been forged and burned by the flame - take your last breath, become nothing more than ashes scattered to the four winds. After you've come and gone the stars will still fall down for you. They, like everything else, are only meant for you to gaze upon but never possess. These are lessons you refuse to learn. You know that love is freely given; never earned. At what point do you forgive; now that you've let go?

Very interesting words and concepts.. Some of which sadly I can relate too!! Although I learned a long time ago that love is freely given and can never be earned.. And my son constantly reminds me that nothing in this world is meant for me!! I'm neither good enough, or liked enough to possess anything in this life.. Life for me was apparently alway's intended to be a consuming flame!! I learned that lesson 20 years ago, only to make the mistake and ignore that relization for a couple of years after my divorce.. One of the many things I learned about reality is that we're never really forgiven!! Although religious circles would claim otherwise.. Whether God forgives or not is any one's guess.. But man never forgives, or forgets!! I am amazed sometimes by how much I tend to forgive in others.. I understand what it means to fail, and have regret's and thus I tend to overlook other people's mistakes!! But I have also noticed that it is rare to experiance that from others.. Or perhap's the reality is that all my fear's are imagined!! But I doubt it very much.. I understand people all to well!! I'm not certain why I've ranted like I have.. Guess I can relate to the words alot more than even this short writing would indicate!! I wonder though whether or not the stars will really fall for me when I die.. It seem's doubtfull..

An old, Negro league, Hall Of Fame pitcher, Satchel Paige, had a famous saying: "Don't look back - somethin' might be gaining on ya'". The past is just that, dear soul. The past. Move on up the road and don't look back. You are what you now are. A MOST precious part of this world. T.P.
