Description
The first horned dinosaur to be discovered was Triceratops in 1889. It had three facial horns and a sizeable crest made of solid bone extending out of the back of its head. It was suggested that this would have made a formidable defence against predators and the idea stuck. So much so that in most dinosaur illustrations and films we always see a Triceratops doing battle with a T-Rex.
