Description
While hiking into Hilton Falls (see previous post), I came across a rather large butterfly. I managed to capture a good shot of it sitting on a small tree. Today I looked it up on the internet and found out that it is a Giant Swallowtail Butterfly and that it is rare in this part of the continent (Southern Ontario, Canada) and that it is the biggest butterfly in North America with a wing span of 3 to 4.5 inches (75 - 110 mm). This guy was on the big side, as it flew past us we commented that it was 4 to 5 inches.
