Description

Ok this is, as you can probably guess, my first attempt at painting fire, I think it came out really well, the base figure is a sexy slayer from wrymmaster and the ruins are the greek ruins from daz3d, the armour is also daz3d (vicky armour) but its been modified in post. Please comment and as always be brutal and honest but not cruel.

I think the painted fire looks absolutely awesome, very convincing. The only thing I would change is the color on the armor, it seems more fitting for a fire elemental type thing to have some black/dark red/orange armor. And then maybe add a bit of orange light on the ruins that would come from the flames?

thanks for saying that jadelu, With the armour colour I did look at the reds and oranges but thought to myself, no, the armour contains the fire, it cools it down, so I left it and as the blue, and as for the orange light I the ruins, I tried I really did try but couldn't do it, this is only my 3 image ever and my 2nd use of photoshop, I am sure I will be able to get it right eventually

Terrific attempt for fire :) Only tiny suggestion is try out more hue layers of red, orange, yellow, and don't forget the hottest part of fire...blue. Can't wait to see the next one :)

Interesting image, Idova. The composition and fire effect are good. I wonder how the image would look if the hilights in the armor were more orangy-red rather than white (to show the effect of fire light). Looks like you spent quite a while on this one. Well done.

It looks good to me. I'd add more transperency to the fire edges and maybe add other colors to the mix besides orange and yellow.

As you have asked for some constructive criticism I really don't think the fire looks realistic (if this is the style you are going for). To get a better looking fire I would paint on a new layer in white (the hottest part of the flame) and then on another layer on top of this (set to Colour Dodge)I would use a soft edge brush with its opacity set to around 20% in oranges and reds on another duplicate layer.
